Network testing equipment for broacasting NICs and packet dropping equipment...

Hello:
Today after countless hours (6) of testing two ProCurve 48 port switches, a Dell PowerConnect switch, T1 equipment, 2 Shortel Routers, an Adtrain device, 2 servers, and cables, we eventually figured our where the broadcasting and dropped packets were coming from.  The issues were coming from the Dell PowerConnect switch and one of the ProCurve switches.
Is there a hardware device test or good software Network Analyzer tool(s) that can detect a problem and pinpoint a NIC/Device on the network that is spewing out bad packets on the network?  Any solid recommendations would be appreciated.
