"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The fact that the w2 recipient is an IT professional has nothing to do with finding a tax write-off. All depends on the employment circumstances.

I'm not sure what you are looking for.   The only sort of things that I can think of would be items that the employer requires the employee to have that is only used for work but the employer does not provide or reimburse the employee for.

Example: Employer requires the employee to have a cell phone, but does not provide one nor do they reimburse the employee for it and the cell phone is ONLY used for business.  The employee can NOT use it for personal use.
