I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. you have a signal/noise problem, make sure the extenders are on there own channel
Network ZeroCloud Engineer Commented:
First thing 1st. Do you get 35 Mbps on the wired?

2. Thing download insider on a laptop or desk ltop close to the router and extender and check what channel most devices are on and stay away from it also check the signal strength from there.

3. Check inside your wireless card and make sure that in 2.4 and 5ghz it's set to auto.

Try getting real close to the router and run a test - it could be the location, you may even want to replace the wifi card inside, I did that with laptop went from atheros to Intel.

Is the extender connected to the router via wire or wireless?

Extender is wireless ,
-
mvalencia2003Author Commented:
upload speed = 12 Mbps ..,

when I first connected extender and did speed test .. download speed = 70 + Mbps

.

mvalencia2003Author Commented:
just ran another test - - upload = 30 Mbps ..,,,
mvalencia2003Author Commented:
computer closer to router , also .. less than 3Mbps ..
could there be a setting not allowing more than this download speed
?
?
mvalencia2003Author Commented:
turned modem off , router off , extender off .. .. turned back ON
-
-
download speed still under 3Mbps ..

,
Craig BeckCommented:
Can you change the channel on the router and test again?
mvalencia2003Author Commented:
Which channels are best ? ,, I have it on 11 now (2Ghz) ..,
Network ZeroCloud Engineer Commented:
Are you testing the download speed on the physical?

Make sure that both router and the extender have updated firmware and also what band are you using 2.4ghz or 5ghz.
Network ZeroCloud Engineer Commented:
update all drivers
mvalencia2003Author Commented:
5Ghz , router firmware updated .. driver for Wireless Card on PC updated

mvalencia2003Author Commented:
I m running speed check , first link on google ... now I got 0.10Mbps DOWNLOAD

..
!!!
Network ZeroCloud Engineer Commented:
Something doesn't add up, I would remove the router and the extender plug the laptop into the modem or turn on the wireless on the modem and get as close to the thing as possible and test and then add the router back and test and then add the extender and see where all the speed is being lost
Craig BeckCommented:
Hang on... Is it 2.4GHz or 5GHz?
mvalencia2003Author Commented:
5Ghz - - but both bands are giving slow speed
-
-
Craig BeckCommented:
Ok, so which band is used to make the link between the router and the extender?  Is it 2.4GHz?
mvalencia2003Author Commented:
link from router to extender .. shows both bands are connected

-
,,
Craig BeckCommented:
That can't be right.  It may be showing that both bands are available for people to connect to as clients, but the extender will only connect to the router using one of its radios (usually as a client itself).
mvalencia2003Author Commented:
I disconnected Extender .. connected to only the wireless router .. signal is the same .. does this mean Extender wasn't property set up ..? If that's the case how do I set up Extender so it extends the signal

I connected to Extender via web interface and it shows =

Craig BeckCommented:
You disconnected the extender and speeds were the same connected wirelessly to the router??

I think the extender is just showing that both radios are up, not that they're actually connected to the router.
mvalencia2003Author Commented:
what's this :
Status: Associated Associated

??
mvalencia2003Author Commented:
1. I connected computer directly to modem , speed was = 115 + Mbps
2. I connected modem to router , and connected computer wireless .. speed was = < 3 Mbps
3. Same speed as 2 with modem to router to extender .. to wireless computer .........

Natty GregIn Theory (IT)Commented:
try channel 5 for the 2.4ghz and channel 149 for 5ghz
change the bandwidth to auto,
Network ZeroCloud Engineer Commented:
Yeah something is wrong with that router If your super close and the sleep is -3 you need factory reset it and then update it - putting the bands in auto should help. Also their might be a signal transmission setting make sure it's on high or max
