Windows 2012 refuses login of RDP users

A relatively new server has suddenly stopped allowing remote connections to logon - it goes as far as the RDP logon but rejects the connection stating the user/password are incorrect (they're definitely not) - local logon works fine, this was working up to last Friday but now I can't even logon via RDP using domain admin credentials.  Any suggestions please?

I wear a lot of hats...

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Open the services control panel and look for stopped services. There have been a few isolated incidents of odd interactions with patches and other updates the last two weeks that are leaving a couple of necessary services in a stopped state. Services failing to start will also write an event log entry so that's another place to look. Especially right after a reboot.

Thanks, I can't see any stopped services that might cause a problem like this - I've just tried to logon using local credentials and it works, it's just when trying to logon to a domain account that I get the problem...

robinhornnz has isolated the updates: KB3002657 and KB3046049 and resolved it by removing them: http://www.experts-exchange.com/OS/Microsoft_Operating_Systems/Server/Windows_Server_2012/Q_28636661.html#a40671657
