VMWare Export OVF but maintain BIOS configuration

I am trying to find a way to export an OVF image of a VM from vSphere but maintain the BIOS settings (specifically the BIOS administrator password). At the moment if I export a VM and then reimport it the BIOS settings are lost.

Any ideas?

The BIOS information is stored in the nvram file, and this is not exported.

but if you copy the file manually, or use a third party backup tool, it will backup and restore this file.

That sounds promising... do you know where i can find the file and then associate it with an import?

You will not be able to associate it with the import.

the file is in the VM folder, and can use the datastore browser to download and upload.
