I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

please clarify what exactly you understand by "change"?
are you referring to UPDATE statments, and INSERT/DELETEs, or really the ALTER TABLE (changing structures...)

In short, without have some "audit" information (saving the events of changes in a dedicated table) you will not have such numbers with a "system query"

if you don't have auditing or application logs then you'll need to use log miner, sifting through archive logs .

Guy Hengel,

"are you referring to UPDATE statments, and INSERT/DELETEs, or really the ALTER TABLE (changing structures...)"

as I tried to setup Async CDC for the oracle, so I would like to try/test on a table which has update. so I source for one in oracle, so any kind of update/insert/delete are welcome

sdstuber,

I want to find a frequently update table as the candidates for the Async CDC hotlog setup. so that I can see how well is the Async CDC perform.

it doesn't matter "how" the updates occur.  CDC or manual sql statements or anything in between.  Auditing and/or log miner will show you what you are looking for.

If you use application logs, then it might matter. - but that would be your code, so only you can determine if they are applicable.

I don't use log miner as I study this here before and later on we found that CDC is what we want,.

but I need a table has update for us to show what will be the CDCed record looks like.

I will use this one :http://amit7oracledba.blogspot.hk/2013/08/how-to-implement-change-data-capture-in.html

to implement what I want as this is 90% close to the version  I am going to use and this link is easlier to read.

then you know why I need CDC ..
