VB sql query to populate dropdown

I am working on a outlook macro and have a userform with a drop down that i want populated from a sql database.

Would be something simple like 'select name from dbo.userlist'

Completely lost on how to get this accomplished.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If you are connecting to a Microsoft SQL Server database:

Dim rs  As ADODB.Recordset
Dim sql As String
Set cn = New ADODB.Connection

cn.Open "Provider = sqloledb;" & _
            "Data Source=your_sql_server_name;" & _
            "Initial Catalog=your_database_name;" & _
            "User ID=xxx;" & _
            "Password=xxx;"""

sql = "SELECT name from dbo.userlist;"
Set rs = New ADODB.Recordset
rs.Open sql, cn
Sheets("sheet1").Cells(2, 1).CopyFromRecordset rs
