Hi, i have a new Hyper-V server (2012R2) that i want to use vmconnect.exe to login to the guests on the hyper-v. The hyper-v host server is in a workgroup (hyper-server-group), the Windows 8.1 client i want to run vmconnect from is in a domain. Client and hyper-v server is on same network. I can use RDP in to the hyper-v server, but i cant use vmconnect to connect to guest on the hyper-v server, i get this error
"Hyper-V Remote Management: You do not have the required permission to complete this task. Contact the administrator of the authorization policy for the computer ‘COMPUTERNAME’"

I have tried this, but it dont work.

Not sure if you noticed the bright red letters at the top of that blog post. You don't need to follow that blog post anymore, and yes, it is old enough that a *few* things have changed.  But the HVRemote script mentioned in that bright red section is still alive and well, has been updated and maintained, and 1.08 supports 2012 R2.

It'll fix you up, as long as you haven't broken things too much.
