SBS 2008 To Windows Server 2008 Migration

I have been following this excellent article to migrate from SBS 2008 to Windows Server 2008. I am at the point where I am going to transfer all 5 FSMO roles to the Windows 2008 Domain Controller and had two questions:

1. After the transfer, do I have to demote the SBS Server immediately or can I let them run together for a few days to make sure everything is okay?

2. Once I demote the SBS Server, how long do I have before I need to permanantly shut it down (21 days)?

Thank you.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

1) You can let them run together for 21 days.
2) You have to shut it down 21 days after you initiated the transfer. Demoting it doesn't change this timeline.
