How to use a linksys smart wifi router in my local network

My work have a Network where all the desktops are connected by cables. My work has a shop(service repair) when the mechanics needs to use laptop to diagnostics problems in the customers tractors. For this they need internet connection.

The have a desktop in the shop and I connected a Linksys wireless router. So now the router is connected directly to a switch in my network and my desktop is connected to this router. I setup this router without dhcp service because my server is the DHCP for all my clients and I do not want any IPs conflicts.

Now the router stop work sometimes and I have to turn off  and work for some days. Do you know if I need to setup this router in a different way?

Thank you

Some newer Linksys models seem to be prone to "going to sleep" for unknown reasons.  You might try a different brand.  The Netgear B/G model routers are reliable and cheap - available for around $10 delivered on fleabay, and at most Salvation Army and Goodwill stores.

Sorry my delay.

DrKlahn, could you please tell me how is the correct way to connect this router to my network. I guess I am doing something wrong.

I am trying to reinstall it using the de cd but the installation process cannot find this connection.

1. I connected the router to a switch (connected to my network)
2. I connected my desktop to this router.

When I connect just my desktop to the switch this working perfectly.

Tell me please what I am doing wrong.

Thank you
