Virtual Machine Missing

I have VM cluster running on Microsoft 2012 platform.  Today in the Virtual Machine Manager I have one VM that is showing missing with a job status of failed.  I have tried to repair but that will not work.  Not sure where to proceed with this issue?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

This can happen if a migration was done in Hyper-V manager instead of failover cluster manager. The cluster is not aware of the change and things get out of sync. Since 2012 supports "shared nothing" VM moves, this mistake is easier to make. You can destroy the cluster role (which does not destroy  the VM) and then create a new cluster role for the VM in its new location. Or you can move the VM back and restart the cluster services.

Thanks for the info. Do you have any docs on how to destroy a cluster role and recreate?
Cliff GaliherCommented:
TechNet does. I'm mobile and not in a place to easily search TechNet at the moment.

As always, make backups before making significant changed.
