CHEAP speakers
I need some cheap speakers that will run on USB power (no additional power or batteries needed). The speaker ports will be taken up by the headsets on each machine so USB will be necessary. Planning to replace a large number of computers with these so cost is extremely important.

It's 9.99 to ship as many as you want however, not per item. They only have 5 of those, probably better to go with a different model. I was just look at the cheapest price point.
If $11/set is in your budget see if you can get the bulk you require from Amazon.

Yep, they sure do look more professional for business.

I'm surprised that a single amplified speaker isn't available that doesn't require a battery or source other than the USB port for power.
The USB port can't supply sufficient power for an amplified speaker.
the usb port (for usb2) can supply 5 V at 0.5 A = 2.5 W Max
so you could build an amplifier of about 2 W max - but who would buy that? rather low power
