Using the vSphere Client - connected to ESXi 5.1, click the Host > Configuration > Storage > Add Storage, and then follow the wizard.

see my EE Articles

Part 1: HOW TO: Install and Configure VMware vSphere Hypervisor 5.1 (ESXi 5.1)

Part 2: HOW TO: Connect to the VMware vSphere Hypervisor 5.1 (ESXi 5.1) using the vSphere Client

it shows the creation of a datastore!

Hi There ,

I know how to install and configure vshpere. it wasn't my question.

my question was how can I detect local drive after I installed esxi-5.1 on flash drive and I added another drive SSD 1T drive so when I login to the esxi5.1 through vsphere i can't see the drive I added see iDrack configuration in the attachment.

thanks ,

This is described in the Article Part 2.

It shows the creation of the datastore in Step 4 - Conducting a simple task using the VMware vSphere Client.

I wrote this in text for you, and the Article, shows the steps, with screenshots.

Did you look at the second article ?

Have you connected with the vSphere Client ?

Did you click Add Storage?

I can see the disk is presented to the Hardware, in iDRAC.
This is the best money I have ever spent. I cannot not tell you how many times these folks have saved my bacon. I learn so much from the contributors.

Yes, the disk present in the Idrack but for some reason when I'm trying to add it to VMware be "add storage" he doesn't see the disk I was searching and trying to find the disk but VMware doesn't find it.

okay, if you select, Storage Adaptors, and select Devices, do you see the device (disk).

You state there are two disks, are they both present as virtual disks in iDRAC, because I only see 1?

Do you know what storage controller, they are connected to ?

and both connected to same controller ?

I have just one disk as you see in the iDrack. The esxi installed on the flash drive which not present as a disk in IDrack

yes, i installed on 5.1u2 and it didn't work. anyway I took your suggestion and I installed the 5.5 so guess what everything work. it seems that the 5.1u2 is not compatible with the controller.

Thank you very much for help.

BTW

I also would like to mention:

5.1 supports these sata controllers
I'm using a supported storage system. ESXi 5.1 supports installing on and booting from these storage systems:
