Outlook calendar sharing non-domain user

I need to share an O365 calendar that is synced to my active directory environment with an external non-domain user. This user needs read/write permissions to the calendar. I have published the calendar and the user is able to add the calendar to Outlook but can only view calendar items.

Is there a way to do this with non-domain users or do I need to create a domain account for the external user adn grant those permissions to the calendar?

Thank you

In order to edit or contribute you would have to have a domain account.

What would the process be on the external user side within Outlook to see the calendar so they can add it and be prompted for credentials?

The external user is on their own external domain that has nothing to do with my domain. I can create a domain account on my end where the calendar sits that they need access to but not sure how that would work on their side.
