Trouble installing/uninstalling HP Laserjet P1505n on Windows 7

We have an HP laserjet P1505n connected through USB to a Windows 7 PC.  The user said a few days ago that she turned off the printer to change the toner cartridge and the printer stopped working.  The printer driver in control panel is now greyed out.  I tried re-installing the driver from the file download, but it didn't work.  I've tried removing the printer driver then uninstalling the printer using "print server properties" but get the error message...

The following package(s) can not be deleted:

hpljp1005.inf (x86)
This package contains the following driver(s) that are in use:
HP LaserJet P1505n; This driver is used on:
   HP LaserJet P1505n copy 2
   HP LaserJet P1505n

The following driver(s) can not be deleted:

Driver HP LaserJet P1505n (x86) is in use. It is used on:
    HP LaserJet P1505n copy 2
    HP LaserJet P1505n

There's no    HP LaserJet P1505n copy 2 or   HP LaserJet P1505n showing under 'devices and printer'  If I restart the computer, they come back.

Any ideas on how I can either uninstall the printer completely in hopes that I can re-install or just get the printer going?

Thanks,

Steve

Go into Programs and Features and remove any software associated with the printer.

Also restart the print spooler. Go to Admin tools, Services, Print Spooler services and restart the spooler. Right Click on it to see the options.

Consider running the spooler FixIt from this Microsoft Support Site.

i assume the printer is ready - and can be used from another pc?
you can also try a system restore to a day before the toner change -  to get rid if the second install - it maybe blocking everything

Yes, the printer works on another computer.  I tried the system restore and still have the trouble.

The printer works elsewhere, so it is not the printer. System Restore failed to help.

Try System File Checker. Run SFC /SCANNOW from an admin command prompt. Allow to complete, restart and test.

If no, you may need to run a Windows 7 Repair Install. You need a working recovery partition or the Windows 7 DVD. Here is a Seven Forums tutorial to assist.
