Some tape drives come with single-server versions of a backup application. Look for this.
The backup included with Windows didn't support backups over the network, to the best of my possibly poor knowledge, and its scheduling was pretty rudimentary. If you need a full-featured backup, you may just have to pay for it. In particular, you want to make sure it has agents that can successfully and reliably back up your running applications such as databases, Exchange, SharePoint, etc., backup virtual machines if you have them, maintain an accurate catalog, schedule backups from many machines, etc.
Among those applications are Backup Exec, HP Data Protector, Yosemite Backup, CA ARCserve, and a host of others that aren't cheap, but which do the job you need done.
