hi,
https://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=270568145&softwareid=280805680&release=12.1.22-EA14&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=ED&reltype=latest
q1. what does the crypto/image mean below ?

q2.  when I see both ei & si does this mean it is compatible with both ?

c2950 ei & si ios crypto image
- c2950-i6k2l2q4-mz.121-22.ea14.bin

c2950 ei & si crypto & web based device manager
- c2950-i6k2l2q4-tar.121-22.ea14.tar

q3.  how do I find out if my cisco 2950-12 or 2950-24 is a LRE example  ?

1) Means that it supports cryptography.  In the case of a L-2 switch, SSH.
2) Yes
3) Should be able to see that in the "show version" output.

I think Don should be assigned at least a portion of the points as he did help.

I closed the question because I did not see no comments from any experts but it would obviously a network/sync issue although I have pressed f5 for eg.

yes now I see that 'don' gave answer at the same time I was putting my comments in and closing the thread same time.  so I will allocate all points.

thanks for that as appreciated all advice.
