Removing update cache from Windows Server Datacentre 2007 SP2

Heyas,

There are plenty of articles telling you how to clear your WinSxS Directory in Windows Server 2008. Is their way to do this for Windows Server Datacentre 2007 SP2?

Thank you.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Windows Server Datacentre 2007 SP2?  Did you mean 2008 R2 ?

The procedures are exactly the same and it is definitely a not recommended practice. Hard drive space is cheap even SSD's are under 0.38/meg

It's odd it says 2007, please see screenshot.

Well I am unable to install the update that would give me the ability the remove 'Windows Updates', can advise of another method to clean up the backlog of windows updates? I don't mind if it's a manual procedure.

Thank you.
David Johnson, CD, MVPOwnerCommented:
you need to have desktop experience enabled and once done you can run the windows disk cleanup tool by right clicking on the drive and following the instructions given in the link you provided
ZackGeneral IT Goto GuyAuthor Commented:
I have but the 'Windows Update Cleanup' option doesn't appear.

then there is nothing you can do.. you might want to stop the windows update service and delete the c:\windows\softwaredistribution folder and then restart the windows update service.
