"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You just need to add a rule to the firewall / access rules to ensure ports for IMAP (secured) and SMTP submission are permitted between internal and external.

That would be ports 143 and 993 for IMAP (the former for IMAP + StartTLS security, the latter is the explicit port for "IMAPS") and ports 587 and 465 for SMTP submission (again, the former is for SMTP + STARTTLS, the latter is the explicit SMTPS port in which SSL is negotiated before any SMTP protocol data is exchanged).

There should be built-in port assignments in the default TMG list of ports for all of this.
