Hello Folks,

Could you please let me know, what is required in functional application map diagram?
Actually, I've one website which require functional application map diagram.

For your information, I need to upgrade application from 2.0 framework to 4.5 framework.
Is functional application map diagram related to upgrade?
Is there any application map in upgrade flow?

Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You may try one simple thing: Copy your app to another folder, change the platform to .NET 4.5 and compile it. It could/should work.is able to

Also .NET 4.5 is able to run your .NET 2.0 compiled code. The app.config should contain:
<configuration>
<startup>
    <supportedRuntime version="v2.0.50727"/>
    <supportedRuntime version="v4.0" sku=".NETFramework,Version=v4.0,Profile=Client"/>
    <supportedRuntime version="v4.0" sku=".NETFramework,Version=v4.0"/>
  </startup>
</configuration>

Open in new window

You may read more about backward compatibility here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff602939.aspx

Just FYI, .NET 5 is rather different and many functions are not implemented yet. So .NET 5 is a good starting point for the future but the backward compatibility is not guaranteed. More info: http://www.asp.net/vnext/overview/aspnet-vnext/aspnet-5-overview

Hi,
thanks for your feedback.

But is there term "Functional Application Map" in conversion or is it related to functional flow chart of application?

pcelbaCommented:
No there is no such term used in the .NET and the functional flow chart of the application could be one possible explanation (for developers).

Managers would rather see the functional application map as a result from the audit of the local Information Systems of all  subsidiaries which could then be used to recommend some new solutions.

Another one (also for managers) is e.g. in this document: http://michigan.gov/documents/MVP_20_CPS_MPV_CST_071906_165657_7.doc
