How do I install a domain certificate onto a MAC client?

My MAC client appears to need a certificate installed in order to access my windows domain.  It is not being prompted (as I believe it should do) so I want to do it manually, but where do I find the certificate and how do I install it onto the MAC?

login to the certificate authority website and download the certificate and then
follow the instructions @ https://support.quovadisglobal.com/KB/a59/how-do-i-install-a-digital-certificate-onto-apple-mac-os-x.aspx to install the certificate. Safari may import the certificate for you

This is a self signed certificate - internal domain only.

self signed keys are always untrusted but export the key copy it to the mac and then install the key
