SQL 2012 180 day - how do I upgrade trial

Big problem,

We had a SQL server installed nearly a year ago with evaluation mode. Nearly a year later it has decided the tril has expired. We are volume licencing so do not have a key. We have two production databases that are no longer available. Is there anything we can do?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The only option I have when I go to reinstall and upgrade is to either put in a key (which i dont have) or select express. Will the databases still work with express?

Yes, you do need a key for licensing the actual trial SQL Server instance.
It will work with express? Depends. SQL Express has limitations. For example the database can't be larger than 10GB. You also don't have SQL Server Agent in SQL Express so no jobs.
