GIT errors is result=22, HTTP code=414 with large number of files in a ZIP

We are using GIT with the server based on Windows 2012r2.  We are trying push a file 65KB but has a large number of small text files (~750) included.  When pushing to GIT it returns result=22, HTTP code=414 after about 5 seconds.  We are able to push files much larger but is not a ZIP.

We are new to GIT and not looking to change our platform.  What do we need to massage to get this to work?

Further investigation shows that the default unzip tool is not handling the archive file.  Examples of using 7zip for zip files?

Have you tried using a different protocol? I mean, git normally works quite sanely with ssh and is the normal transport protocol used. HTTP error 414 means the URL is too long. No idea what's going on but with ssh you are unlikely to see these sorts of issues!

Using SSH with git is as simple as installing an ssh server (see below for a nice free one that just works with Windows) and changing your git origin to the ssh format.

For example:

if you http remote origin url is https://user@server/foo/bar
The ssh version will be user@server:foo/bar

I'd recommend this ssh server (even if it's just for testing purposes to see if this fixes the issue).

There ended up being a configuration setting that had to be changed
