Exchange 2010 Hybrid with DirSync - Full Mailbox Access

Hey all,

When configuring Full Mailbox Access between users on Office 365 in a Hybrid Exchange 2010 environment, is it PowerShell only? Seems like you loose this ability once the users are moved and show up in EMC as Remote Mail Enabled Users.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

This issue may be caused by the permission inheritance, please try below steps to resolved this question:
1. Disable mailbox on-premises: Disable-Mailbox <UserMailbox>
2. Convert the user's on-premises mailbox to a remote user mailbox.
Enable-RemoteMailbox  -Identity <UserName> -RemoteRoutingAddress <>

Hi Ya Li,

That's not the issue.

What is the proper way to enable Full Mailbox Access in Exchange 2010 Hybrid? Doesn't appear possible in the EMC with the MEUs. I assume this is only possible via EMS.

Gareth, I'm pretty sure I'm missing something here, but if the mailboxes are in O365, why granting permissions on-prem? I'm also sure you know that cross-premises permissions are not supported.

I may be missing something myself.

I had assigned Full Mailbox permissions directly in Office 365 and then it appears after a period of time that the Full Mailbox permissions previously set would vanish. I assumed they were disappearing after a DirSync. I may be wrong.

I know there are some things you can not set directly in Office 365 when you have DirSync/ADFS configured because it warns you it is synchronized from on premise. I assumed Full Mailbox Access might be one of those.
