Javascript - Popup new window

I just want to popup a new window, not open a new tab. Is this correct in javascript? I tried it it keeps open a new tab.

function PopWindow(contentUrl)
            window.open(contentUrl) + "','_blank' ,'status=yes,menubar=no,toolbar=no,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes,height=500,width=610,location=yes' );"
        }

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi,

Try,

 function PopWindow(contentUrl) {
            window.open(contentUrl, 'PopUp', 'status=yes,menubar=no,toolbar=no,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes,height=500,width=610,location=yes');
        }

Open in new window

            <asp:Button ID="Button1" runat="server" Text="Button" OnClientClick="PopWindow('http://www.google.com');" />

Hi,

You can do so by this:

<script>
function myFunction() {
    window.open("http://google.com", "_blank", "status=yes,menubar=no,toolbar=no,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes,height=500,width=610,location=yes");
}
</script>

keep in mind that a lot of browsers have pop up blockers installed, and you run the risk of having your pop up blocked. The industry standard nowadays is to use what's called a modal dialog box, which uses html, css, and javascript/jquery to execute.

These are two of my favorites, easy to use and highly customizable:
