Lost Files Win8

I can't work this out.
I write out a new file with VBA , but omit any path (by mistake), my guess is it's going to the root, not the current  path .
VBA DIR function returns the file name, so its been saved I guess in the root, but Explorer doesn't show anything + I can't search for it, wheredigo?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Open Windows Explorer, go to Options, View, and be sure that you have unchecked Hidden Files, have unchecked Hide Extensions, and uncheck Hide empty drives.  OK to that, close Explorer, re-open and look for your files.

It is possible the save did not work correctly and the files are gone.
