Microsoft Folder Sync won't display "documents" folder

Hi,
I'm pretty familiar folder redirection of documents and microsoft sync within an AD environment.  However, I've been testing a simplified file server setup for a couple clients that use NAS systems like Drobo and Synology in a workgroup environment.  It seemed to be working fine until I went into a beer drinking establishment to finish up some work tonight.  My H:\user\documents "Documents" folder redirection with sync center caching files seems to have wiped out all the data saved there.  Fortunately, I have a couple of backups and it may still work when I connect to NAS on the LAN but any feedback as to what is going on will be much appreciated.

Update:  Documents data wasn't showing up once connected to the LAN initially.  I checked again 30 min later and they have populated.  What's going on?

please explain your setup in depth.. it would appear that your offline file folder is the default and it took time to sync
The NAS shared home folder contains my documents on the LAN.  Documents on Windows 7 is redirected to the mapped H drive.  I enabled folder sync to cache "documents" folder on windows 7 when I untether my laptop from the LAN and roam about.  I lose my "documents" any time I'm considered off the LAN.

you have to allow it to sync your offline files and you have 750 conflicts to resolve.
I clicked sync offline files while on the LAN.  The status is "pending"
It still said pending when I tried a couple more times.  Today, it says "in progress"   I'm not sure if that fixes the cached files situation but at least it's running.  Do I have force it all the time or how do I get it to sync automatically?
Errors still persist.  I need some help here.
did you look at the conflicts and resolve whether to use the local file or the remote file?
There was like 1200 conflicts.  I don't understand the conflicts.  These files were local to the computer until I enabled folder redirection.
you still have to select which one to keep either the one on the server or the one in the cache
Well, I'm back on the LAN after returning from the holidays and there's no files in documents after an hour of being on the network.   This is getting really aggravating.  I still don't understand why have to click on 1200 conflicts when I had them.  This whole things should just work better or simply what I'm use to in an AD environment.
Update:  The data is still viewable on the LAN.  My diskstation decided to turn itself off.  :(   Though, the data remains uncached or unavailable in offline mode or off the LAN mode.
perhaps you have to increase the amount of hard drive space for offline files

Find out how much hard disk space your offline files are currently using. Choose how much hard disk space to allow for your offline files (maximum disk usage). To perform either of these tasks, follow these steps:Open Offline Files by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button. In the search box, type offline files, and then, in the list of results, click Manage offline files.  Click the Disk Usage tab. Check your disk usage information or perform any other tasks, and then click OK.

It seems to be working with a couple quirks.  Does it help to have the data originally reside on the server and then perform the offline sync to the laptop.  Also, I have an ever changing outlook.pst that shows up as a conflict all the time.  I ignore but it keeps coming back once a day.  Should I just roll with this issue?

I think I'm going to make the switch to IMAP and move the IMAP pst out of the folder sync location.
FYI - I'm getting this not enough quota error message I attached to one of the files I tried to save and later tried to delete after saving somewhere outside folder sync.  IMAP is a disaster for large PSTs.  I need to rethink this folder sync idea.

Maybe this is the fix for "not enough quota"
It was ultimately the answer to getting folder sync to work for me.
