Does a Latitude E6420/E6220 need to have USB 3.0 ports in order to work with port replicator that has USB 3.0 ports?

I have a couple Latitude laptops.  Neither of which have USB 3.0 ports.  I do have a port replicator for them that has USB 3.0 ports.  When the laptop is inserted into the port replicator the device is recognized and drivers are installed.  If I connect a USB 3.0 SSD/HD the transfer rate is USB 2.0 at best.

When checking device manager nothing indicated 3.0 capability.

Thanks in advance.

That is the best you will get if the host machine only has USB 2 ports.
