Do we need to raise a change request for changing department attribute for all the users in a particular OU in Active Directory?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

It depends of the company policy, but most probably yes

Typically day to day operations like changing individual values on accounts or changing properties is completely normal as these are called Operation Changes and it is a common practice when managing and maintaining User properties.

However, when you are modifying several accounts with a script or another mechanism, this is something that is outside of the scope of general management. If you are modifying several accounts at once and there is no process in place (or a valid process path for this script) then I would beleive this is something you would need a change request for.

Depending on company policy if you do this often enought and have scripts in place that have been tested and work accordinly then you might be able to work these changes into your Operational Tasks. But then again this is all based on the company policies.
