bidirectionele audio support for hard phones over Citrix

Hi There,

I would like to use hard phones over Citrix. We are using XenDesktop 5.5.
I'm looking for some experience with this functionality. In other words, is it possible and if is, is it suitable for business?

Hope to hear from you :-)

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi dkotte,

ThX! That is really helpful. There is only one thing...in both examples I can't refer to any hard phone they use. Both examples are used with soft phones. Am I correct or do I misinterpreter the information?
For me the situation would be as follows (remote): Internet connection-->utp cable to hard phone --> hard phone --> utp cable to PC --> eventually the PC with Citrix client running. Giving the user the Citrix desktop on screen and the ability to make and receive calls using the CUCM Cisco server at our base office.

John

oh sorry, i think i misunderstood your "hard phone".
Do you mean a IP-phone between LAN and PC?
Which feature do you wish to use from citrix?
At the moment i don't know why the speech should be transfered to citrix session.
Do you use a local application with your Phone?

Or is your requirement to dial from within the session (TAPI)?
If so ... with Cisco i use "Jabber" and "estos".

Ok, but your PC and the Citrix session don`t see the IP-Phone.
So the PC / Citrix session is unable to use the audio-stream.
I don#t know how to use an ip phone from PC or within a remote session.

Hi dkotte,

So in other words...you think it is not possible to work with Citrix and a hard phone?

i don't know what you wish to do ...
would you use the "hard phone" like a microphone and using it from an published app?

John KruijtAuthor Commented:
No, I wishes to make and receive calls through our Cisco CUCM and the tape those calls with our voice recorder.
So just as if I'm at the office :-)

my CUCM send me missed calls to Outlook.
from Outlook within my session i am able to hear the message.
but to use the cisco phone at home our users Need a VPN.
Citrix is unable to tunnel an IP (hard-)phone to the LAN.
