Only HSRP is supported on the 3550 with a minimum of 12.1(11) code.

Cisco feature navigator is your friend. :-)

hi don,

using the 'cisco navigator' i have only looked at the below:

search by software:

- 3550 - nothing showing
- 2650xm - i located 1 of my ios's currently using

search by feature/technology:

- glbp - enter - i can type in 'glbp' and and click view description which gives me a description of what it is - ok i understand

compare images: yes i understand

- image epol info:

- not sure what this is

ive search for my specific image for example and it cannot locate my image.

qn1.  not sure how i used cisco navigator to find out what my ios features my c3550 has  ?

qns2.  so what cheap switch can i get that will allow me to test:  ?

- vrrp
- glbp

GLBP is only supported on the 6500/4500 platform - it's not a feature which you will find on a cheap switch.  You may be able to buy a couple of cheap ISR routers though, such as the 1700 or 2600 series.

VRRP will be supported past 12.2 I think, but again, not on cheap switches.

My advice, for FHRP protocols, use proper routers to test with instead of switches.

Put in the feature that you want. Then select "platform" and look for "3550".  If it's there, select it and you will see the IOS versions which support the feature.  If you can't find "3550" then it's not supported.

For GLBP or VRRP? There are no "cheap" Cisco switch that support it.

hi don, apologies for not replying back.  the 3550 was not detected at all, but luckily my routers have: hrsp and vrrp features so I can use them.
