Suggestion about osCommerce vs PrestaShop

Hi all.
I've been appointed to update and restyle an e-commerce site. The site uses now osCommerce and I'm wondering if it could be a good idea migrate to PrestaShop since I read that:

- osCommerce still uses tables to design layout;
- many osCommerce plugins are difficult to install and overall they need to edit existent and working code to integrate them
- PrestaShop is easier to install, mantain and use;
- PrestaShop natively implements Ajax calls;
- PrestaShop will implement Bootstrap layout and yet now it uses css to design layout

I would like your precious ideas about this.
Thank you all
Marco

Don't rule out OpenCart - really straight-forward to use, easy to customize, free ! Used it on a few sites now and works really well.

I Chris. Many thanks for your reply. This is my 'serious' job and I'm a bit nervous :-)
Well, I'll take a look at OpenCart also.
I'm requested to implement checkout with Paypal, Check/Money Order and AuthirizeNet: are this types of checkout natively implemented in one of mentioned e-commerce software (OpenCart included)?

Hey Marco.

All three of those payment modules are implemented into OpenCart by default, along with about 25 others. I've not really used osCommerce or Prestashop, so can't really comment on those.

I did try osCommerce a couple of years ago but it felt very 'dated' so I went on the hunt and found OpenCart. It may have improved since!

Makes sense.

May not be a bad idea to download and install each one, just to have a play around if you have the time. That will, at least, give you some first-hand experience to base your final decision on.
