Problem changing Modal header on <a href='#' ...> click

I have a
<strong>Collections Support:</strong>   <a href="#" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#SupportModal" id="link1">test@me.com</a>

        <br />
        <strong>Web Site Support:</strong>   <a href="#" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#CollectionsModal" id="link2">test@me.com</a>

Open in new window

what I need to do is change the literal control in the modal header depending on which on of these I click.

Here is the header modal
<div class="modal-header">
                     <button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-hidden="false">Close</button>
                    <h4 class="modal-title" id="myModalTitle">
                        </h4>
                   <label id="myTitle">

                   </label>
                </div>

Open in new window

Here is the jquery I have tried when clicking just one of them.
 $(document).ready(function () {
            $('a[id=link1]').click(function () {
                $('#mytitle').text = "Support Contact";
            });
        });

Open in new window

This doesn't work, could someone show me why?

thanks

Above line should be changed to:

$('#myTitle').text("Support Contact");

Open in new window

On the other hand, your <label> should be put inside <h4> tag.
