I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Is your local development workstation joined to the same domain as the live server?

Nope! I guess that is the problem? but what is <cfntauthenticate>
Both <cfntauthenticate> and <cfldap> are used in Network environments where you leverage some sort of domain controller. However <cfntauthenticate> is for use with a Windows NT Domain.

<cfldap> provides more control and has more attributes. I lean more towards <cfldap> now because it's more flexible and a generic code based can be used with Windows Active Directory or Novell Directory Services.

For local development you might have to provide some sort of logic to use local variables or a db when not connected to the domain.
