Application server running on Hyper-V  windows server 2012 R2 freezes upon restarting.

Atouray asked
Our Hyper-V server running windows server 2012 R2  host our applications and recently we noticed the server keeps on freezing and when you attempt to reset the hyper v server it just halts . You can see on the status that it is resetting but it stays there forever. Restarting the host too takes a very long time before it is fully up. Can I please know what is the main cause of this?

Start with the host's disk subsystem. Server management software should be able to show RAID controller logs. They may indicate disk read/write failures. That would mean that a disk or disks are going bad.

Bad drivers and firmware could also be the culprit.

Look in the Hyper-V host's Event Logs for any errors that may have occurred right before lock-up.

Make sure no A/V is running on the host. If, in the off chance there is A/V on the host make sure it is not set to scan VHD/VHDX files and the Hyper-V settings folders.
