Exchange 2013 - backup with EMC Avamar 6.1?

The title says it all - does anyone here know if the backup of Exchange 2013 is supported under EMC Avamar 2013, specifically 6.1.2?

I have the "EMC avamar 6.1 for Exchange VSS User Guide", however it does not cover Exchange 2013 - only 2007 and 2010.

I'd rather not waste time installing the agent and attempting to configure the backup job if it isn't fully supported.

Thanks,

Jonathan

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

It will not work. There were changes in the way Exchange worked in 2010 which required Avamar 7.0 due to the modifications at the time. Since much of this has been carried over to 2013, that would still be true. However, while the upgrade requires professional services, there is no additional cost involved as long as you are on maintenance.

Thank Rodney - I was afraid of that.

so, As a stop gap, I've got windows Backup running (per https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd876854%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx) to a second disk.

I guess from there I could have Avamar backup the backup... (yuk), but I guess it gets the job done.

The 2013 server is purely acting as a hybrid server, and won't be hosting any mailboxes (at least that's the plan right now).

Thanks,

Jonathan
