Exchange Backups/Replicas - Veeam vs Acronis

From my tests, my veeam backups and replications (with application aware on or off) are taking too long, when compared to acronis.
Typical backup job of exchange with acronis was taking c30 minutes to complete.  Veeam is taking anything from 2-5hrs+ for backups.  Replicas the same or more.
I'm assuming the reason for this is that veeam waits for the snapshots to be deleted, something i think acronis wasn't too bothered about, and probably why we had snapshot issues.

Is there a way to improve performance on the veeam side?

Thanks

Replicas speeds are based on Network LAN/WAN speed, and datastore speeds.

You are not using Veeam and Acronis on the same VM, to backup ?

Are you doing full backups of incrementals ?

30 minutes suggests that this is an incremental, based on changed blocks in the VM.

Veeam, taking 2-5 hours suggests a full backup?

both technologies use the same method. this is not the issue.

No.  Stopped using Acronis for now.
Doing reverse incremental backups (as advised by veeam)

Maybe i need to review the type of backup here?

My exchange VM c600gb, used 136gb.
Replica job - Under traffic settings, have 'LAN target' set under storage optimizations.
Backup job - set as reverse incremental only (no full backups), storage optimization is 'local target'.

Remember we have no SAN.

well the backups arent too bad, guess there are a lot of changes to files and the exchange database..
replicas are way too slow.

changed the reverse backups to incrementals and better performance.  just need to test recover times now.

so after much testing veeam are saying that our exchange server inst in a state whereby we can backup application aware data reliably.  we have the exchange writer service in a filed state quite often.
shame, however we can still backup mailboxes to tape and we already archiving our emails to the cloud, so not critical i guess.
flip side is that its not getting its knickers in a twist when it fails to backup the vms, like acronis does!
