Looking for a search tool/application or script that parses SmarterMail log files

I need to do a search through lots of mail log files, where unfortunately the details I need to pull out are on 2 different lines in the logs. I need to search a lot of email transactions so trying to find a way to automate this.

For example, first I need to search on the recipient email address,  this will locate a line in the logs, and that line (and all related log entries for that specific email transaction) contains an ID CODE, then I'd need the other log entries that contain that same ID code.

So there are 2 search operations that have to happen (first finding all lines that contain a particular email address), and then parsing the ID code from each and searching on that.

At this point I don't care if this is a WIndows application, Perl Script, Bash Script, orPowershell script, or whatever but pretty desperate to find something that can do this.  Even if the output isn't pretty and contains more info that I need that is fine.

Something that runs on WIndows would be ideal but if I have to copy the logs to a linux box to get this done that's fine too.

Good news, I found a custom written search tool that someone wrote for the exact mail server we use, tested the tool and it's searching exactly how I needed.

I'll post the link below in case anyone else finds this thread also looking for a search tool for Smartermail log files:

Can you provide a sample of the data file (I assume it's a text file), and then an example of what you want to search for, and the results you want returned for that search.

Good find, glad you found a tool that can get you what you wanted.

You might want to edit the original question and add the specific mail server name for future reference, maybe even in the question title.  Then you can accept your answer for 0 points to close the question as solved, and it will be available for future reference if someone has the same need.
