Symantec endpoint protection manager 12.1.5 stop running a scheduled client scan

Need to know how to stop Symantec endpoint protection manager 12.1.5 stop running a scheduled client scan.
windows 2008r2 client, windows 2012R2 server.

when the scheduled scan starts do you see the progress bar? you could stop it from there if the Symantec policies allows this.

our 2008r2 remote desktop server users lock up when the scans run.
we found yesterday that we had defwatch scans enabled.  they run for 8 hours and usually during production hours.

we disabled the defwatch scans on the remote desktop servers, but now i cannot find a way to stop the already running scans.

on the clients or on the server?
from whatever remote session you are seeing the issue.

wound up having to do these steps:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection>smc.exe -stop

C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection>smc.exe -start
