"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

when the scheduled scan starts do you see the progress bar? you could stop it from there if the Symantec policies allows this.
Why are you trying to do this?

our 2008r2 remote desktop server users lock up when the scans run.
we found yesterday that we had defwatch scans enabled.  they run for 8 hours and usually during production hours.

we disabled the defwatch scans on the remote desktop servers, but now i cannot find a way to stop the already running scans.
if you run this command with admin rights this will stop all sep and whatever is doing

from the command prompt with elevated privileges run

smc -stop
