store long text in sql server 2012

I have a content edtior div on my web application and I am storing the content in my table column which is right now varchar(8000).

But I recently got a complained that one user pasted a long text than upon saving some of its text is getting cropped.
Now I need to increase my column length but I am not able to decide which type should I use Varchar(max) or text

Could any one help me out here to chose one, remember I have no control on  the length which user can write or paste in this content div.

you can use Nvarchar(max).

That is a no brainer.  Don't use Text as it iis deprecated, instead use varchar(MAX).
