Media Management Netbackup

We had reinstalled our Netbackup 6.0 on Oracle Enterprise Linux 4.5 and it is completed.

Need to configure the media management.
The servers to be backed up are oracle database servers on daily basis. Tried with initial config steps for media but was not successful.

Any guidelines for media management separately. Would like to know the concept of labelling the tapes, volume pool and assigning them to invoke the appropriate tapes as per backup policy creation.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The classic model for backups is to use a grandfather, father, son model that keeps all your tapes off-site in case of a disaster, with maybe an archive copy being kept weekly/monthly/Annually.
More modern methods involve doing disk-2-disk backups with an asynchronous dump to tape (sometimes good for tape performance) others involve using what is know as a "Incrementals Forever" technique, where an initial full backup is taken and then only incrementals after that for an extended period of maybe months, with the production of a so called "synthetic full" backup on a maybe daily basis.

Your mileage will vary depending on your business requirements and your RPO/RTO requirements.
