"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I just want to know if the database server is in the client computer or it is in a remote server. If it's in a remote server, it is in a local network or in another region/country and if it is in the same or different domain.
You should check for local event log.

Sorry for not coming back to this question earlier.
Did you check in Event Viewer for errors?
Also, this is a generic network error so please give a read on this MSDN article as you may find a solution there.
