Enabling Physical Address Extensions Before Windows Installation

Hello,

I'm looking for some direction in forcing PAE to be enabled prior to installing Windows on an old laptop with an equally old Pentium M CPU. This can be easily accomplished when installing Ubuntu-derived Linux distributions, as seen in this article...

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/PAE

Is there a way I can prepare the laptop in this way for a Windows installation?

Thanks,
Brad

Assuming that the specs of the old PC will allow installation and running of Windows 7 (I assume Win 7 since you have indicated that in the Topics line), I am not sure you have to set Windows up to enable PAE.
I never had to when I installed Win 98 or Win 7.
However the assumption mentioned in the first sentence is an important consideration.  See these references

first, you install windows then enable it after first boot

second, why do you even need PAE?  with a processor that old (and probably a system of that same age), i doubt it supports more than 4gb of memory thus no need for PAE
