Java Eclipse Maven Installation of maven plugin is not working

I am running into some issues upon attempting to install the m2e on eclipse that I am hoping you can throw light on.

Right now I am working on a windows machine.

My control panel settings is set up as follows:

JAVA_HOME: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_45
MAVEN_HOME: C:\Program Files\apache-maven-3.0.4
Path: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Microsoft Online Services;C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Microsoft Online Services;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;%SYSTEMROOT%\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Panda Security\WaAgent\Common;C:\Program Files\nodejs\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.1\Windows Performance Toolkit\;C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\Tools\Binn\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\TypeScript\1.0\;C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\120\Tools\Binn\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\;C:\Program Files\apache-maven-3.0.4\bin

When I run mvn –version from the command line I get:
C:\Users\ashaw>mvn --version
Apache Maven 3.0.4 (r1232337; 2012-01-17 03:44:56-0500)
Maven home: C:\Program Files\apache-maven-3.0.4\bin\..
Java version: 1.6.0_45, vendor: Sun Microsystems Inc.
Java home: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_45\jre
Default locale: en_US, platform encoding: Cp1252
OS name: "windows 8", version: "6.2", arch: "amd64", family: "windows"

However when I try to add the m2e to eclipse (http://download.eclipse.org/technology/m2e/releases
) I get the following errors:
Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found.
  Software being installed: m2e - Maven Integration for Eclipse (includes Incubating components) 1.5.1.20150109-1820 (org.eclipse.m2e.feature.feature.group 1.5.1.20150109-1820)
  Missing requirement: Maven POM XML Editor 1.5.1.20150109-1820 (org.eclipse.m2e.editor.xml 1.5.1.20150109-1820) requires 'bundle org.eclipse.wst.xml.ui 0.0.0' but it could not be found
  Cannot satisfy dependency:

Can any one help me find a solution for this?

Install missing POM XML EDITOR in eclipse?

Why would you target Java 6 when Java 7 is already on its way down and java 8 is current?

Application was build on that.  thanks.  but I found the issue by doing the following:
–> Install new software
-> enter URL http://download.eclipse.org/releases/juno/
-> General Purpose Tools
-> check "m2e - Maven Integration for Eclipse
-> Continue with the installation & restart.
-> Windows _> Preferences _> Find Maven
