I have started the VM with the .tmp.vhdx file moved out of the folder and nothing happened. All seems to be fine. Cliff Galiher's explanation must be correct.

I have virtual machine running on Windows Server 2012 R2 hyperv. Today I was going to move it to different partition when I noticed that there is a large file with the same name as the name of the hard disk with .tmp,vhdx extention.<br />

so in effect there are 2 file in Virtual Disks folder for that machine named:<br />

vmachine.vhdx and vmachine.tmp.vhdx<br />

What is this file?<br />
Can I delete it (it is 150GB)
