Error with CRM 2015 Plugin for Outlook - An error occurred promoting this item to Microsoft Dynamics CRM

We recently upgraded to CRM 2015 from 2011 and we have about 3 users receiving the same exact error when they open up Outlook.

We can install and configure the CRM plugin for Outlook with no issues, however upon start up they receive an error saying "An error occurred promoting this item to Microsoft Dynamics CRM". We click "Ok" although the same error pops up another 4 or 5 times. After continuing to click "Ok" the errors stop appearing and don't come back unless Outlook is restarted.

We've looked up the error and found that multiple people are having similar issues although every fix suggested has not worked. Has anyone run into the same issue and found a fix?

Yes it does appear that a lot of people are having this issue. One suggestion that I heard was to double check whether Outlook cached mode was on. If it is not, turn it on. This is an offline settings configuration on the Exchange account.

Another thing you can do is to try and identify the "offending" emails. I think there is a field called crmLinkState that stored whether an email has been successfully synched. See if you can add that field to a view and review the values.

Cached mode was turned off so we turned it on and tried again. This time we received a different error and it looks as if it's specifying the subject of the email(s) which are causing the problem. (See attached). I had a look through their mailboxes and could not find any emails relating to these subjects. If we turn cache mode back off we receive the original errors instead.

Could you elaborate more on what you mean by adding the crmLinkState field to a view and reviewing values?

Thanks!

crmLinkstate is a custom field added to Outlook items that CRM for Outlook uses to keep track of synchronization progress.

However, your new error messages are helpful. They suggest that the "problem" emails have been moved to a different mailbox (referred to as a store in the message). Could this have happened?
