No sound when receiving text messages in iPhone 6

For some strange reason, and this has been happening since getting the iPhone 6 version iOS 8.2.  When receiving text messages from Skype, WeChat, Viber, Whatapps, etc., most of the times, the device doesn't make a sound.

We checked the settings and it has sound setup both in Settings >> Sounds and in each apps Notification.

Please advice how to fix this.

I had the same issue. I did a backup of my iphone and restored it again. It was working.

Try with your earphone and see if you can get the alert sound.

But if we do a backup, which we understand that it backups all apps also along with their setup, and then restore, wouldn't the problem also de backed up and then restores? (hence, problem still persist)?

I mean degrade it to the previous version. I am using iPhone 5 and it was working. A few of my friends had the same issue got it resolved(1 wasn't able to resolve it).

Do not upgrade it to 8.1.2 wait till the next version arrives. new releases should have the fixes.

But how do I downgrade it when App Store always show latest version?

Ramachandar NCommented:
You should download the ipsw file from the store and install via iTunes. You have an option to choose the downloaded file.

There is no link for the ipsw file.  When going into apps store, it just says "Explore iBooks" then below "Open iBooks".

Please advice exactly where we can downgrade or provide a pic.

Thanx

Ok but returning to this question, how can we downgrade the iOS?

Download it this ipsw file from the below link. Open iTunes. Click on the Update button holding the Shift key(Shift+Update). You will be asked to choose the ipsw file.

What will happen to the apps already installed and we are currently using?

There is random absent of sound when receiving text messages in iPhone 6; this has been super bothering.

We have been recommended to downgrade the iOS version of the iPhone from 8.3 to 8.1.  Due to that we really use lots pf apps of the phone, we feel that this steps will cause more problem than fixing.  Though we could be wrong, but we are not sure what will happen to all the apps we strongly use everyday.

That being said, how can we fix this problem  of text messaging randomly not making the assigned incoming sound?

Your first post says you are using IOS 8.2 and now IOS 8.3 is out. I am using V8.3.  Did you try upgrading to IOS 8.3?   And it still did not fix the issue?

Try doing a full reset of the iPhone.  Back up your iPhone with iTunes and back up the Camera Roll in addition. Now do a Full Reset from Settings and then connect your phone to iTunes and restore the backup. This should work (I have done it once on iPhone 4s).

If you still have issues, take the phone to an Apple store and see if there is a firmware upgrade for it. I had a battery issue with my 4s and the Apple store did upgrade the firmware.
