shadow copies of server 2012r2

I am trying to set up shadow copies VSS on a Windows server 2012 R2 machine. I have a drive set up for the VSS's. However, when I go to set up the VSS, it does not give the option  for the drive.  when I go tothe settings window, it only comes up with the volume being the same drive as the data. How can I set up shadow copies VSS on a Windows server 2012 R2 machine?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

What format is the data drive and the target drive for shadow copies? NTFS for both is preferable.

the shadow copies are occurring and they do work, but I don't think they are on the H drive backing up the G drive.
