Exchange 2013 DAG backup to flush logs

Dear Experts,

I have 2 servers in a DAG. I need to setup a backup to get an offsite copy of the database rotated daily and I need this backup to flush the logs on both DAG members.

I want to use the built in backup in server 2012 - would this be sufficient?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Built-in VSS backup would be sufficient to flush the logs.
But if want to depend on this backup for recovery, You will have to take a full VSS backup and test the backup in a lab environment as rare cases I found the VSS backup restores the backup and services will not start.

I guess you know Exchange is tightly integrated with AD.

Hi Leroy,

You can use native windows backup to perform a full VSS backup of exchange, which will truncate logs as you require...

HI Guys,

Thank you for the info thus far.

Am i required to backup each DAG member separately to flush logs or will a backup on 1 flush logs on both servers.

Thank you
