TONER -- One or more cartridges appear to be damaged ?

Any ideas on how to fix the below ONE bad machine ?
  ** Maybe it just has ink residue that for some reason is not detected on the others ?

HP Officejet Pro X476dw -- Machine #1
1.      Insert new BLACK toner
2.      Make 20 copies
3.      Works fine

HP Officejet Pro X476dw -- Machine #2
1.      Insert same BLACK toner
2.      Make 20 copies
3.      Works fine

HP Officejet Pro X476dw -- Machine #3
1.      Insert same BLACK toner
2.      Make 20 copies
3.      Fails with “One or more cartridges appear to be damaged, remove them and replace with new cartridges” message
4.      Insert same BLACK toner into above machine #1 or #2
5.      Make 20 copies
6.      Still works fine in machine #1 or #2, but always fails in machine #3
7.      Insert BLACK toner from nonOEM vendor #2, works fine in machine #3
8.      Test with 5+ other new BLACK toner from nonOEM vendor #1

All of the working HP Officejet Pro X476dw COPIERs have 1409 firmware.

The one NON-working HP Officejet Pro X476dw COPIER has 1502 firmware.
it can be the firmware version - as you suspect, but also the cartridge tag reader, or a cartridge alignment problem
i'm sure you cleaned it out, and inspected it closely?
According to HP latest is 1409... Maybe you got new hardware revision...
And they dont lock our 3rd party cartridges You can use tonercheck.exe to see if yours are genuine.
